Meet the Principal
Greeting Ellis Families,
Welcome to our school website! We want to thank you for your commitment and partnership with us!
At Ellis, we are a very prideful, supportive and collaborative community of high expectations. We believe in a growth mindset and teach social & emotional learning in a rigorous and engaging academic environment. Your child will be nurtured and given the skills to thrive!
The best part of my job is making connections with students and seeing them acquire new skills daily! I am also very grateful for our dynamic hand-picked team! The Ellis team is comprised of intellectual, caring and effective adults! From the office secretary, to the Assistant Principal, to the teachers and ALL support staff, our vision is common – we want the best for your child.
This is my fifth year as the Principal of Ellis. Before that, I was the Assistant Principal at Ellis from 2014-2016. Before becoming a teacher, I studied political science, law and philosophy. While I did not grow up knowing I’d become a teacher and ultimately a principal, I always loved school and thrived in the realm of education. Therefore I wanted those I came into contact with to have a similar experience. What is greater than the liberation and power of knowledge? I consider myself a lifelong learner and I am a current doctoral student at Northern Illinois University working towards an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. As one who has always been an advocate for the underserved and a believer in equity and justice, one day I would like to work as an Assistant Superintendent or an Executive Director of Equity.
I have two sons ages 6 and 12 and they both attend Rockford Public Schools. My free time is limited, but I try to make time to be physically active on a regular basis. I also enjoy traveling (New York City is my favorite vacation spot), reading and spending time with family. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to call me at Ellis 815-966-3909.
